FeCrAl alloys offer high resistivity and good oxidation resistance at lower cost than nickel-chromium. They are brittle after high-temperature service — avoid mechanical shock and hard bending, and allow for thermal expansion.
| Grade | Type | ρ20 (Ω·mm²/m) | Max temp. | Melting point | Tensile (soft) | Forms |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cr20Ni80 | NiCr | 1.09 | 1,200 °C | ≈1,400 °C | 650–750 MPa | wire, strip |
| Cr15Ni60 | NiCr | 1.12 | 1,150 °C | ≈1,390 °C | 620–720 MPa | wire, strip |
| Cr30Ni70 | NiCr | 1.18 | 1,250 °C | ≈1,380 °C | 600–700 MPa | wire, strip |
| Cr20Ni35 | NiCr | 1.04 | 1,050 °C | ≈1,400 °C | 600–700 MPa | wire, strip |
| Cr20Ni30 | NiCr | 1.06 | 1,050 °C | ≈1,400 °C | 600–700 MPa | wire, strip |
Nickel-chromium alloys have good ductility and stable resistivity, and are suitable for elements that are switched on and off frequently. Avoid sulphur-bearing atmospheres.
